Stay at Nell Tom Cottage
Nell Tom is a 5 star luxury cottage set high on the hillside with breathtaking views of Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is located just above the village of Low Row, in walking distance of the Punch Bowl Inn gastro pub. Nell Tom would appeal to families, walkers, cyclists, lovers of the countryside and those who want to escape to relax and seek peace. There are wonderful walks/mountain bike trails straight from the door. Hire bikes and follow the route of the Tour de France, go bird watching, admire the hay meadows which explode with colour in June and the purple heather moorland in August or spend hours counting shooting stars in the unpolluted night sky where the milky way is usually visible.
Facilities
Nell Tom sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms with comfortable super king sized beds in 3 rooms. Bedroom 4 is set up as a twin. With enough notice bedroom 4 can be a double and bedroom 3 can be set up as a twin. There is Eygptian cotton bed linen and carpets in all bedrooms. There are amazing views from every room. There is plenty of storage and hanging space.
The master ensuite bathroom has a bath and a shower, the other ensuite has a shower over the bath. There is also a family bathroom with shower over the bath, and a cloakroom downstairs with a further shower. The bathrooms all have big double-ended baths with thermostatic controlled taps, mood lighting, under floor heating and heated towel rails.
The enormous kitchen diner is L shaped and has a sofa as well as large dining table and peninsula with bar stools. It is designed around cooking and entertaining and has a 5 ring hob and 2 ovens, an American fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, TV, and all modern kitchen equipment. The kitchen is on the east side of the house, so is sunny in the morning, and has many windows with views down the dale, and due south.
The big L shaped sitting room on the western side, has the evening sun and views on all 3 sides in the part that juts out into the garden. French windows open out onto the garden from this part of the room. There are 3 sofas and TV, DVD and log burner with big stone fireplace. There is a smaller sitting room in the centre of the house, which has a big comfy sofa in an L shape. It is more informal and also has a TV and DVD player. The windows face south and north.
By the front door there is a coat and boot storage area. There is more boot and coat storage in the utility room, which has a large sink and units. The house is heated by ground source pumps, and the machines to make this work are housed in the utility. Heating is under floor downstairs, and radiators upstairs.
The downstairs shower has a washing machine and tumble drier.
The cottage is remote and secluded. It is approached by a twisty road to the hamlet of Blades and then by a private gravel road. There is plenty of parking as well as bike storage.
Children are well provided for with high chair, cot, stair gates, toys, books and games. They can enjoy the safe enclosed patio and garden or the freedom of roaming the fields and moors surrounding the cottage, splashing in the stream, flying kites, or spotting our wild black rabbit.
Unfortunately we cannot cater for stag/hen parties and dogs are not permitted.
